Meet the Counselor

Mr. Mercado: Calla High School Counselor

I feel a great deal of fulfillment in my role as a School Counselor at Calla High School. I also feel privileged in being part of the team at Calla High School! My purpose is contribution, connection and service for others. As a counselor, I provide support, guidance, and provide tools that foster growth.

My educational path includes the following: I attended CSU Stanislaus, where I received my bachelor’s degree in communication studies with an emphasis in Organizational Communication and Public Relations. I continued my schooling at CSU Stanislaus, where I earned my master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in School Counseling and also earned a Pupil Personnel Services Credential.

My work experience includes the following: I have 6 years of vast knowledge and experience as a college advisor at both California State University, Stanislaus and the University of California, Merced. I also have 10 years of public school experience working at the k-12 level as a Counselor.

My hobbies and interests include the following: Spending time with my wonderful wife, our kids, family and close friends. I also enjoy CrossFit, playing sports with my kids, hiking, traveling to Mexico, the beach, movies and all types of food.

How do you Contact Me?

Students can email me to request an appointment. If I am busy or not in my office when school is in-session, you can also email me. I will respond to your email in the order received. If there is a crisis and I am on campus, the front office staff will notify me and I'll will follow up immediately. If I'm off-campus, the Ms. Bryson will follow up.
